Researchers from Iran have discovered that the South American plant lemon verbena could help insomniacs get better sleep.
They recruited a group of people suffering from sleep loss to their study – giving half of them lemon verbena syrup to drink and the other half a placebo syrup, an hour before bed, for four weeks.
Those who’d taken the lemon verbena reported better quality sleep, less severe insomnia.
