Join the refill revolution!

If you’re not already using refillable products, then I highly recommend giving them a go. I wrote a piece for The Daily Express on some brands that are kicking ass in this department, rising to the challenge, swapping out single-use packaging and encouraging customers to refill rather than ‘rebuy’.

A massive 5m tonnes of plastic is used in the UK every year, half of which is packaging. This can last in landfill for hundreds of years. Or it ends up polluting soils, rivers and oceans and harming the wildlife that live there.

Environmental experts say that, to combat this, we need to move towards a more circular economy; one where we reuse and keep things in use for as long as possible.

“Refillable solutions are really important,” says Helen Bird, Strategic Technical Manager for Plastics at the sustainability charity WRAP . “They help to prevent throwaway single use plastics and under The UK Plastics Pact, WRAP’s ambition is for this to be mainstream by 2025. We really need to see mass commercialisation of refillables.”

The article looked at companies like:

phoxwater.com which makes a water filter that comes with a refillable cartridge you fill with fresh filtration granules.

faithinnature.co.uk refillable body care products

tropicskincare.com which offers refills on all its facial serums and oils

fillrefill.co – cleaning products – including laundry and washing up liquid, floor and toilet cleaners you can get refilled in ethical stores.
